about

"I am." is Meetu Chilana's 2007 debut cd comprised of six all original tracks using English, Hindi and Punjabi in an eclectic mix of songs.

The title track, "I Am," is a commentary on the culture and obsession of labeling everyone, be it class, race or religion. In the chorus of the title track, Chilana uses her soulful voice to articulate the need for acceptance of individuality; "I don't need you to glorify me. I refuse to justify me. I believe I'm who I'm meant to be. I am who I am."

Coincidently the name of the track is also somewhat of an acronym for "Indian American"- a definitive description of who SHE IS.

The songs on the album range from a Bhangra club track called, "Come and Take It," to the introspective ballad, "Changes." The EP's first single, "Lost," which is the theme song for independent film "Hiding Divya," also has an award winning music video (available to view on YouTube.)
